1) who were the Magi? What did they bring with them? 

Answer- The Magi were the wise men from the East.The use of the word 'magi' is a biblical allusion to men.

      Traditionally,they bought gifts to the infant Jesus at his birth.They came bearing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.Narrator said that, because of these gifts we all traditionally give gifts at Christmas time just as Jim and Della did.

2) "It was like him. Quiteness and Value the description applied to both"-What are the two things refered to? Explain the line.

Answer- The above quoted line is taken from O.Henry's 'The gift of the Magi'. Here the two refered to Jim and the fob chain brought by Della for his gold watch. With twenty one dollar and eighty seven cents,Della went to several shops and bought a simple platinum fob chain . The chain was simple and proclaimed its value by substance alone without oranamentation. The chain was like Jim in value and quiteness. Jim also had quiet strength and many sterling quality in him.

       উপরের উদ্ধৃত লাইনটি ও হেনরির দি গিফট অফ দ্য ম্যাজি থেকে নেওয়া হয়েছে। এখানে দুজন জিম এবং ডেলা তার সোনার ঘড়ির জন্য যে হবে চেইনটি এনেছিল তার কথা উল্লেখ করেছেন। ২১ ডলার এবং ৮৭ সেন্ট দিয়ে, ডেলা বেশ কয়েকটি দোকানে গিয়ে একটি সাধারণ প্লাটিনাম হবে চেইন কিনেছিল।চেইনটি ছিল সহজ এবং কোন অলংকরণ ছাড়াই কেবল পদার্থের মাধ্যমে তার মূল্য ঘোষণা করেছিল। চেইটির মূল্য এবং নীরবতায় জিমের মত ছিল। জিমের মধ্যে নীরব শক্তি এবং অনেক গুণও ছিল। 

3) How did Della react when she saw Jim's gift to her?

Answer- Della was overwhelmed with happiness when she show Jim's gift to her. Then she recalled how much she longed  for these combs.She hugged it and looked at the length of her hair to assure Jim that her would grow very fast now.

(ডেলা জিমের উপহার দেখে খুশিতে আত্মহারা হয়ে গেল। চিরুনিগুলো তার জন্য কতটা আকুল ছিল তা মনে পড়ল।সে চিরুনি গুলি জড়িয়ে ধরে লম্বা চুলের দিকে তাকিয়ে জিমকে আশ্বস্ত করলো যে, তার চুল এখন খুব দ্রুত বাড়বে)।
